1. Partners in HeArt
Starting July 7, the Red Brick Arts Centre will be exhibiting 'Partners in HeArt', a creative collection of wire art and photography by artistic husband and wife duo Louis and Laura Ouimet of Edmonton.
Laura is an international, award-winning member of the Federation of Canadian Artists who prides herself on bringing a bit of unexpected joy to home and garden spaces with her creative chicken wire garden sculptures. Her remarkable pieces have graced the public art collections of communities like Spruce Grove and Whitecourt, and six of her sculptures are part of the University of Alberta Botanical Gardens' private collection.
Louis brings his own artistic flair to the exhibit as a talented Canadian landscape photographer. His breathtaking photographs beautifully complement Laura's unique sculptures, providing a stunning visual contrast that enhances the depth and impact of the exhibit.
Don't miss this unique exhibit, which will be open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm until August 15 at the Red Brick Arts Centre.

2. Hobby Hunting & Make and Take

Looking for a new hobby for your kids, or a fun way for them to flex their creative muscles this summer? Stop by the Edson & District Public Library every Tuesday to discover new and healthy ways to help your kids find joy, stay busy and relieve stress.
From 10 am - 12 pm, kids are invited to participate in a number of hands-on creative activities. Then from 2-4 pm, they'll have a chance to explore new and exciting hobbies in a safe and welcoming environment.
These sessions are ideal for children ages 5-12.

3. Peers Art Classes
Unleash your inner artist in Peers this summer with three exciting opportunities to get creative alongside talented and versatile local artist Gabriella Heron!
Hosted by Yellowhead County, these three guided classes will explore a variety of artistic mediums, from watercolour to quilt-style pencil drawings and pointillism painting.
Open to ages 16 and up, these classes welcome all skill levels and artistic backgrounds.

4. Mountain Biking Courses
Sweet Riders is back for another exciting summer of mountain bike training at Willmore Park from July 9-11!
These fun and active courses are designed for kids ages 4 to 11+, teaching everything from basic balance to advanced trail and bike park skills.
The day begins with a 9-9:45 am sessions for kids ages 4-5, focused on balance and getting comfortable on both wheels.
From 12-2 pm, riders ages 9-10 will continue building their skills through trail riding, progression work, and time in the bike skills park.
All sessions are weather dependent and may be rescheduled or refunded in case of heavy rain or unsafe conditions. Participants must bring a mountain bike (no BMX bikes), and an online waiver form must be completed prior to the course.

5. Summer Festival
Get ready, Edson — the magic of summer is back as Main Street transforms into a full-blown fairground from July 9-11 for the Summer Festival, brought to you by the Edson & District Chamber of Commerce!
Canada’s largest travelling carnival, West Coast Amusements, is rolling into town with all the rides, games, and sweet treats you’ve been waiting for.
From high-flying thrills like The Zipper and Vertigo, to classic favourites like the Ferris Wheel and Carousel, there’s something for every level of excitement. Little ones can enjoy their own adventures in Kiddieland, filled with fun rides just for ages 2 and up.
Take a break between rides to try your luck at classic carnival games or grab a sweet treat — from cotton candy to warm mini donuts. Hungry for more? Swing by one of the on-site food trucks for a delicious meal, and don’t forget to pick up an Elephant Ear, a local favourite you won’t want to miss.

7. Kindred Spirits: A Century of the Evansburg Cemetery
Join Yellowhead County in celebrating 100 years of the Evansburg Cemetery– Yellowhead County’s only County-owned and operated cemetery– on July 12 during their special anniversary event.
Take part in a self-guided walking tour, reconnect with loved ones, and learn about the history of this historic cemetery. There will be flowers available for sale (cash only) and light refreshments to enjoy.
While you’re there, don’t miss the cemetery’s newest addition: the Wind Phone, one of only a few in Alberta. Inspired by a touching tradition from Japan, the Wind Phone is not connected to anything but your heart, your memories, and the people you hold dear. Visitors are invited to pick up the receiver and share a message, a memory, or simply take a quiet moment to reflect. 8. Bike 4 Kidz Poker Run

The Kingz RC's Bike 4 Kidz Poker Run is back for another year of biking fun and community spirit!
The ride kicks off at Green Square in Hinton and wraps up at Pine Grove Hall in Edson, where the fun continues with food, bike games, vendors, a dunk tank, and free weekend camping for all participants.
Cap off the weekend with a special live performance by Blues At 11—a perfect ending to an unforgettable event!

9. Bear Chase Triathlon
Kids ages 3-13 are encouraged to swim, bike and run their way to the finish line at Yellowhead County's annual family-friendly Bear Chase Triathlon coming up on July 17!
Hosted at the picturesque Bear Lake Park & Campground, this event is a fun opportunity for kids to 'try a tri' and stay active over the summer.
The event kicks off at 5:30 pm, with a delicious BBQ for participants and their families to follow.

10. 'Meet your Heroes' Bottle Drive
Join the Daycare Society of Edson and the Town of Edson's Enforcement Services on July 19 to meet your local heroes while raising money for a good cause!
Bring the kids down to the Galloway Station Museum parking lot for a chance to get up close and personal with enforcement officer vehicles, from police cars and firetrucks to ambulances and more. Meet and interact with local first responders and learn the important work they do in keeping our communities safe.
Be sure to bring down a bag of bottles for donation, as all proceeds will be going to Edson Early Learning and Childcare.
The event will also feature prize giveaways for the kids, a 50/50 draw, and plenty of excitement for everyone. Don’t miss your chance to support local childcare while celebrating the heroes who help keep our community safe!

11. Cadomin Community Hall Opening

Join the community of Cadomin on July 19 as they celebrate the grand opening of their brand-new Community Hall!

The celebration will conclude with a delicious ticketed banquet inside the new hall — the perfect way to take in the beauty of this exciting new space.

12. Heritage Bus Tour
Join the Yellowhead County Heritage Program for a guided bus tour exploring the rich and rugged history of the County’s west end. This exciting day trip includes stops at Solomon Hill, Entrance, Brule, Switzer Park, and more!
Highlights include guided hikes to the historic Brule mine ruins and the fascinating Pet Cemetery.

13. Edson Renaissance Faire

Hear Ye Hear Ye! Thou hast been summoned by the Town of Edson to partake in the merriment and festivities of the third annual Edson Renaissance Faire from July 26-27 at the Yellowhead Ag Society Rodeo Grounds. Revel ‘neath canvas tents, sip hearty mead, and join in mirthful revelry fit for kings, queens, and fae alike!
Saturday and Sunday will offer a smorgasbord of medieval fun, with performers, activities, quests, games and demonstrations taking place all weekend long.
Witness the thrilling spectacle of fully armored combat by the Historical Armored Combat Sports Association, watch an exciting Vikings-age reenactment by Vikings Vinland, participate in a tarot reading or guided meditation with Dimii La Lunn, learn Scottish folklore through captivating storytelling and dance with Angus and Dolina, and much more. From live entertainment on and off stage to storytelling and crafts, interactive experiences like a maypole dance, and delicious food and drinks, this event is sure to be a hit for all ages.
Also in attendance will be Hazel Horseback Archer and her incredible Clydesdale partner, CRW Crown Jewel. More than an equestrian, Hazel is an athlete, cosplayer, actress, content creator, and horse trainer—recently chosen to represent Canada at the 2025 IHAA World Championships! Come cheer her on and witness the incredible skill and bond between rider and horse before she takes on the world stage.
Experience the medieval art of trinket trading by exchanging small items with fellow traders throughout the weekend. Bring your own items to share and trade in this unique tradition where you can meet new people and take home unique souvenirs.
Saturday evening will feature a Celtic concert in Dragon's Head Pub, with opening act Angus and Dolina. Doors open at 7 pm, with Edmonton's Celtic Frolic set to start off the show at 7:30 pm.
Amidst all the other exciting activities taking place, Saturday afternoon will feature a costume contest with prizes, so be sure to dress in your favourite Renaissance-era clothing for the chance to win!
Free bussing will be available to and from the Renaissance Faire, with busses running a continuous circuit between Parkland Lodge, the Edson & District Leisure Centre and the Galloway Station Museum, Travel Centre & Archives throughout the weekend.
This event is great for the whole family and is one you surely will not want to miss.
