About the event

Join the Galloway Station Museum and the Town of Edson for a great day of old-timey fun at the annual Wop May Day/Alberta Day celebration in RCMP Centennial Park on August 30.

Step back in time with classic carnival and field games, live entertainment, a themed photobooth, paper airplane contest, and the ever-popular pie-eating contest. Grab a bite from one of the on-site food trucks or try a refreshing lemonade from the stand while soaking in the festive atmosphere.

While you're there, don’t forget to purchase a ticket for our Chair-ity Raffle, featuring beautifully hand-painted Adirondack chairs by local artists.

And don’t miss the Wine & Cheese Night on August 29, where special guest John Chalmers of the Alberta Aviation Museum will be giving and intriguing talk about Wop May.

In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, the Edson & District Historical Society (EDHS) acknowledges that we are on Treaty 6 territory, the traditional and ancestral lands of the Nehiyawak, Saulteaux, Siksika, Piikuni, Kainai, Dene, Nakota Sioux and Otipemisiwak (Metis) Nations. The EDHS further acknowledges the harms done in the past and as a volunteer organization are dedicated to cultivating relationships in the spirit of reconciliation. We welcome the opportunity to continue to live and learn on these lands with mutual respect.
