  1. On June 20, the community is invited to RCMP Centennial Park for Shandy’s Dream for a Cure BBQ fundraiser in support of pediatric brain cancer research. The event was founded by Barbie Brown and Rob Reichenbacher in memory of their daughter, Shandy, who passed away in 2015 at just 11 years old after battling a brain tumor. Determined to carry forward her hope of one day finding a cure, Barbie and Rob created Shandy’s Dream for a Cure—an initiative that has since raised over $120,000 for the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada. In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, the Edson & District Historical Society (EDHS) acknowledges that we are on Treaty 6 territory, the traditional and ancestral lands of the Nehiyawak, Saulteaux, Siksika, Piikuni, Kainai, Dene, Nakota Sioux and Otipemisiwak (Metis) Nations. The EDHS further acknowledges the harms done in the past and as a volunteer organization are dedicated to cultivating relationships in the spirit of reconciliation. We welcome the opportunity to continue to live and learn on these lands with mutual respect.
