14 Things to do in Edson this March

This March is full of great activities for all ages and interests in Edson and area! Whether you are interested in arts, sports, education or family-focused events, read on for 14 events coming up this March.


1. PD Day



Are you trying to find something for your kids to do on the March 3 non-school Friday? The Galloway Station Museum is partnering with some great local organizations to offer another PD Day filled with fun and engaging activities, including dancing, gymnastics, a museum tour and more! 2. A Classic Western Carnival


Visit the Edson & District Leisure Centre for the Edson Figure Skating Club’s ‘Classic Western Carnival’ on March 4. Skaters of all ages will be performing, so be sure to stop by to cheer them on!


3. Saturday Youth Club



Youth are invited to join the Edson Public Library for the Saturday Youth Club featuring fun crafts and activities throughout the month of March. Some of these activities include morse code bracelets (March 4), minute-to-win-it games (March 11) and mechanical puzzles (March 25). Register in person at the library.


4. Happiness Basics



Looking for a little more happiness in your life? Starting March 7, the McLeod River Primary Care Network will be hosting 7-week in person course on Happiness Basics. The course will help you learn skills and create habits that will boost your overall happiness and help you live a happier life.


5. Family Movie Night



Bring your family out to the Peers Multiplex on March 10 for a family movie night featuring Dennis the Menace! Snacks and drinks will be provided free of cost, but registration is required.


6. Community Mural Painting



Looking to satisfy your inner artist this month? Partake in the Community Mural Painting on March 11 as part of the CANOE Resilience Project!


The Resilience Project is intended to showcase the resiliency of the Edson community in a three-part initiative, one of which includes the painting of 5 murals in the downtown core.


By participating, you will be contributing to brightening Edson’s Main Street while being a part of this great initiative!


7. Pi Day Celebration


Bring your irrational love of board games and your never-ending appetite to the Bethel Pentecostal Church on March 14 for a PI Day celebration, featuring free pie and games for the whole family.


8. Chili Cook-Off

Put those cooking skills to the test during Niton Central Fundraising Society’s Chili Cookoff on March 15! There will be hot prizes for the best chili, and the event will also feature a live and silent dessert auction, hotdogs and refreshments, and plinko. All funds raised will help enhance school programs and extracurricular activities at Niton Central School.


9. Scrapbooking Retreat

Calling all scrapbookers! Are you looking to get away for the weekend and do some crafting in the company of fellow scrapbookers? Croppin’ Chicks is hosting a scrapbooking retreat at the Edson Lions Club Hall from March 16-19, featuring dinner, snacks and great company!


10. St. Patrick's Day Dance



Youth ages 11-17 are invited to the Edson Legion for a St. Patrick’s Day dance on March 17, complete with snacks, prizes, a live DJ and lots of fun for only $5!


11. Curling Bonspiels



Get out your brooms because there are a couple bonspiels taking place in the Edson area this March! From March 17-19, Peers will be hosting a mixed bonspiel at the Peers Multiplex. The Robb Recreational Association will be hosting their own mixed open bonspiel from March 24-26, complete with a Saturday night dinner.


12. Dad-urday - Nerf Battle



Fathers are invited to spend some time with their little ones during FCSS’ monthly Dad-urday event on March 18. This month, the Edson Tumblers Gymnastics Club will be hosting a nerf battle, which is sure to put a smile on your little one’s face! Lunch and supplies will be provided, but fee free to bring tour own nerf gun.


13. Grow Your Own Edible Mushrooms Workshop

Learn how to grow edible mushrooms in your own backyard this summer by joining Yellowhead County’s virtual mushroom workshop on March 22. By registering, you will be provided with an introductory video on the life of mushrooms and their cultivation cycle, as well as a two-hour live workshop via zoom and your own bag of wine cap mushroom spawn!


14. 'Wisdom of the Body' Workshop


Join the Town of Edson FCSS for ‘Wisdom of the Body’, an experiential workshop series introducing you to mind-body medicine starting march 6th. Learn essential tools for health and well-being that can be easily integrated into your daily life.
