On June 21, the community is invited to RCMP Centennial Park for Shandy’s Dream for a Cure BBQ fundraiser in support of pediatric brain cancer research.

The event was founded by Barbie Brown and Rob Reichenbacher in memory of their daughter, Shandy, who passed away in 2015 at just 11 years old after battling a brain tumor. Determined to carry forward her hope of one day finding a cure, Barbie and Rob created Shandy’s Dream for a Cure—an initiative that has since raised over $120,000 for the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada.

This annual event continues to be a powerful day of remembrance, resilience, and community spirit. This year’s gathering will feature a BBQ fundraiser, a memorial walk, and a butterfly release in honour of Shandy and all children affected by brain tumors.

Those unable to attend in person are encouraged to support the cause through online donations. Every step taken and every dollar raised brings researchers closer to a cure—and keeps Shandy’s dream alive.
