 1. Parkland Lodge Grandparent Walk-a-thon

Join the Parkland Lodge Auxiliary on September 7 for their annual Grandparent Walk-a-thon, a heartwarming event dedicated to supporting seniors at the Lodge. This family-friendly event welcomes participants of all ages, including kids and pets. Choose from two marked routes for a pleasant stroll, and help raise funds that directly benefit the Lodge and its residents. Pledge forms are available to help you gather support and contributions. Come out for a relaxing walk and make a difference in the lives of our seniors!


 2. Medicine Lodge Fall Roundup

Get ready for the 8th Annual Medicine Lodge Fall Round Up on September 7, 2024, featuring an exciting lineup of rodeo events including saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, ladies barrel racing, team roping, novice saddle bronc, junior steer racing, and mutton bustin’. This CPRA-sanctioned event will also include popular mini-chuckwagon races, with drivers offering rides and photos for kids afterward.


CPRA Professional Rodeo Clown Squirrely Early will bring his unique entertainment to the arena alongside rodeo announcer Tyler Pietsch.


Enjoy rodeo slack on September 6, starting at 1:00 pm, free for all to attend, where extra contestants showcase their skills. Overnight camping is available, and kids 12 and under get in free.

 3. Edmonton Oil Kings vs. Prince George Cougars

Get ready to cheer for your favorite junior Canadian Hockey League team as the Edmonton Oil Kings take the ice against the Prince George Cougars at the Edson Leisure Centre on September 7 & 8.


Join Edson Minor Hockey for a pre-game tailgate party on both afternoons from 10-2 pm, featuring tons of fun activities like face painting, bouncy castles, glitter tattoos, public skating, a raffle table, 50/50 and more.

 4. Boob Tour: A Wild Comedy Tour

Get ready for a night of laughter at the Boob Tour: A Wild Comedy Tour on September 12 at the Edson Legion. This stand-up comedy event, dedicated to supporting the local fight against cancer, combines humor and heart to prove that laughter really is the best medicine. Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased at Diana’s Pets & Trophies. All proceeds raised from this event will support Edson’s annual Run of Hope for Cancer, which will be taking place next month in October.

5. Yellowhead County Mural Paint Party

Join Yellowhead County in Niton Junction on September 12 for a community mural painting project, aimed at celebrating the spirit and strength of Yellowhead County through the painting of beautiful and vibrant murals in each of its hamlets.


This family-friendly event welcomes participants of all ages. Just come dressed in your painting clothes and prepare to unleash your creativity!




 6. Braeden's Voice

Braeden’s Voice presents a poignant evening of music and Indigenous performances on September 13 at RCMP Centennial Park from 7-10 pm, in honor of National Suicide Awareness Week. This event, held in memory of those lost to suicide and to support those suffering in silence, will feature talented Indigenous singer-songwriter Will Belcourt as well as traditional Indigenous dancers. Attendees will also partake in a meaningful walk along 4th Avenue, followed by a moment of silence and the release of Chinese lanterns to honor the lives lost.


 7. Edson Ranch Rodeo

Join the Yellowhead Agricultural Society for an action-packed weekend at the 2nd annual Edson Ranch Rodeo, featuring a variety of thrilling events over the weekend of September 14-15!


On Saturday, enjoy the excitement of the ranch rodeo, youth rancher competition, kids’ instant rancher, mutton bustin', cow riding, mini chuckwagon races and ladies ranch broncos, capped off with a dance featuring live music by award-winning country artist Quinton Blair.


The fun continues on Sunday with more mutton bustin', a no-rope ranch rodeo, instant rancher, ranch bronc riding, cow riding, and ladies ranch broncos.


Gate admission is by donation, with all proceeds benefitting the Hayin’ in the 30’s Cancer Support Society, which provides funding to those undergoing cancer treatment.


Don’t forget to participate in the Cash or Cattle Raffle for the chance to win a grand prize of either 10 bred heifers or $20,000.

 8. Edson Legion Week

Join the Edson Legion for a week of exciting activities and events to celebrate Legion Week from September 15-21, dedicated to recognizing the vital contributions of legions in supporting veterans and enriching communities across Canada.


The week kicks off with a fun shuffleboard tournament on Sunday, followed by an exciting cornhole event on Monday. Tuesday will feature the Legion’s weekly crib night and Wednesday will bring about a mega meat draw. Participate in music bingo on Thursday evening, or visit on Friday for a community BBQ and family-friendly trivia. The week concludes with a senior-mixed dart tournament and another mega meat draw.
