1. Peers Gold Dust Daze
Get ready to kick off August with a bang—Peers Gold Dust Daze is back for its 47th year from August 1-4, promising four days of free, family-friendly fun, from rodeos and river races to dances, slo-pitch games and much, much more!
The event kicks off on Friday evening (August 1) with the start of the annual slo-pitch tournament.
Enjoy a hearty pancake breakfast at the Peers Multiplex to start your Saturday (August 2) off right before viewing the annual parade featuring homemade, Disney-inspired floats. Attendees can also enjoy the Show & Shine featuring antique cars and trucks, along with horsepulls, mounted shooters, and a classic steak fry. The day will conclude with an 18+ dance featuring live music by local artist Tyler Babiuk.
Sunday, (August 3) begins with another delicious pancake breakfast at the grounds and continues with many of Saturday's events, as well as river races, a kids' slo-pitch game, a family dance and the highly-anticipated fireworks display.
Monday (August 4) wraps things up with an exciting tube race, the slo-pitch finals, a duck race, the ranch rodeo, and bronc riding.
Throughout the weekend, children can explore the Kids Daze Zone, complete with bouncy castles, cookie decorating, Disney crafts, gold panning (tentative), a fish pond game and much more.
Need a place to crash between events? Camping is available for the weekend at $60 per trailer or $20 per tent.

2. Fringe Theatre Adventures for Seniors
Seniors – want to experience Edmonton’s iconic Fringe Festival without the hassle? For just $80/person, the Town of Edson is offering a special day trip for seniors on August 15 – free transportation, tickets to two fantastic shows, and time to explore the festival’s street performers and vendors.

Holistic Habits is hosting a Tincture Workshop on August 13, where you’ll discover the art of making plant-based tinctures from scratch. 6. Nature Heroes
Think you’ve got what it takes to solve nature’s mysteries? Grab your kids and head down to Willmore Park on August 13 for the Town of Edson’s Family Nature Nights, hosted in part by Nature Alberta, MacEwan University and the Rotary Club of Edson.
Designed for families with kids ages 4-12, this exciting event includes fun nature-themed games, owl pellet investigations and lovely nature walks led by experts from Nature Alberta and MacEwan University.
Additionally, each family will receive a free copy of the Nature Heroes workbook so you and your family can continue to explore nature after the event!
Be sure to arrive when registration begins to secure your family’s spot— and give your little explorers enough time to visit all the stations.

7. Wildwood Fair

Get ready for a full day of family fun at the annual Wildwood Fair, happening August 15 at the Wildwood Agricultural Grounds! From parades and eating contests, trick riding and more, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Start your morning off right with a pancake breakfast at 8 AM, served at your choice of the Wildwood Complex or Wildwood Community Hall. Then dive into the action with the annual parade at 11 am, followed by the livestock show at noon, featuring some of the area's finest horses, sheep, rabbits and more.
The fun continues at 1 pm with the impressive bench show and the exciting jelly and watermelon eating contests.
Don't miss the exhilarating trick riding show at 2 pm featuring Reece Proudfoot and Keely Sutherland, followed by the exciting greased pig catch at 2:30 pm. Test your skills with the log sawing and nail pounding competitions at 3 pm, or try your luck on the mechanical bull.
Kids (and kids at heart) will find plenty to love—there will be a petting zoo, birdhouse building, face painting, a climbing wall, chicken poop bingo, axe throwing and much, much more. Choo-Choo the Clown will also be roaming the grounds spreading laughter, and live music from Singing Sawyer and Friends will keep the energy high throughout the day.
End the day with a hearty community dinner at the Wildwood Hall—a perfect way to wind down after all the fun.

8. Custom Cruisers Show & Shine

Get ready to rev your engines – the Custom Cruisers Car Show & Shine is rolling back into town for its 10th anniversary in honour of club member Herb Close.
This year’s celebration kicks off with a free concert Friday night (August 15), setting the stage for a Saturday full of vintage vehicles, antique motorcycles, and all things classic car.
Start your Saturday (August 16) with a pancake breakfast served up by the Edson Fire Department, then cruise through a day full of fun for everyone, from food trucks and a farmers’ market to kids’ bouncy castles and more!
Register your car for the chance to win $500! There will also be trophies for People's Choice and Best Motorcycle.

9. Medicine Lodge Rodeo Fall Roundup
Get ready for a wild weekend of western fun at the Medicine Lodge Fall Roundup, returning for its 9th year on August 16!
This action-packed day will feature a variety of CPRA-sanctioned rodeo events, with many contestants giving it their all to claim a spot at the Canadian Finals Rodeo coming up on October 1–4. Watch the best in saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, tie-down roping, and steer wrestling—plus crowd-favourites like ladies barrel racing, team roping, and youth events like novice bareback, novice saddle bronc, and junior steer riding.
Additional attractions include lawnmower races, mutton bustin’, and a special appearance by Rimbey Rodeo Queen Kayla Peacock, who will be in attendance throughout the day.
The festivities will conclude with an evening dance featuring live music from Ron “Mullet Man” Peterson at only $10 for admission.
On-site camping is also available for only $20 per unit.

10. Alberta Open Farm Days
Experience the best agriculture has to offer in Alberta during AB Open Farm Days on August 16 and 17! Meet your local farmers, taste local foods direct from the producer, and discover the diverse farms in the province during this annual event celebrating agricultural tourism in Alberta.
There are some great farms in Yellowhead County that you will have a chance to visit and explore throughout the weekend!
Get up close and personal with livestock at 5S Farms on August 16, and join them for a behind-the-scenes look at their fully-licensed butchershop, where they process all their animals for a full beginning to end, farm-to-table experience. Join them for a pig-cutting demo during which they will demonstrate how they breakdown half of a pig into edible cuts. There will also be burgers, hot dogs, and taco-in-a-bag for sale, along with free glitter tattoos to keep your little ones entertained.
Discover regenerative farming and the importance of soil health at Rocking T Farms on August 16 & 17. Grab a cup of coffee and join them for a walk through their pasture as they explain the process of regenerative farming. Hang out in the garden, dig a hole and look at what is happening below, and learn where and how your food is produced.
Walk through an orchard of over 3000 fruit trees and bushes at Wild Country Gardens on August 16 & 17, and tour their vast garden featuring over 2500 heads of garlic and a variety of vegetables and herbs. Stop by their farm store to browse a variety of products made on-site, from jams and syrups to pickles, pepper jellies and more. New to their farm store freeze-dried products, which include fruit snacks, smoothie mixes, herbs, ice cream treats and more. Their one-of-a-kind Puschens--crocheted slippers with leather soles lined with sheepskin and accented with deer antler buttons-- will also be for sale in their farm store.
The Lone Pine Ranch B & B is an active cattle ranch and bed and breakfast all rolled into one. On August 17, you'll have the chance to meet their many animals, including alpacas, llamas, sheep, chickens, ducks, pigs, cats, donkeys, horse, and pony. Collect eggs from the chicken coop and grab a snack to feed the animals. Apart from the livestock, you'll also have the chance to explore their cozy cabins and check out their dining room treats. The day will also feature a Country Market and Garage Sale with a variety of vendors from the Edmonton region. Keep your kids busy with the on-site sand box, free smores, yard games like practice roping, washer toss, and more.

11. Red Brick Children's Carnival
Step right up! The Red Brick Arts Centre's annual Children's Carnival is back for its 10th year, and it is sure to be nothing short of fun!

12. Coal Branch Tour
Join the Yellowhead County Heritage Program on August 22 for a journey through the unique history of Yellowhead County's southern region of the Alberta Coal Branch. Explore the mining communities of Cadomin, Mercoal and Robb while uncovering the stories and landmarks that highlight the area's rich and diverse past. 13. Meet Your Local Heroes Bottle Drive
Join the Daycare Society of Edson and the Town of Edson's Enforcement Services on August 23 to meet your local heroes while raising money for a good cause!
Bring the kids down to the Galloway Station Museum parking lot for a chance to get up close and personal with enforcement officer vehicles, from police cars and firetrucks to ambulances and more. Meet and interact with local first responders and learn the important work they do in keeping our communities safe.
Be sure to bring down a bag of bottles for donation, as all proceeds will be going to Edson Early Learning and Childcare.
The event will also feature prize giveaways for the kids, a 50/50 draw, and plenty of excitement for everyone. Don’t miss your chance to support local childcare while celebrating the heroes who help keep our community safe!

We will also be collecting donations for the Edson Food Bank.

15. Wop May Day/Alberta Day

Join the Galloway Station Museum and the Town of Edson for a great day of old-timey fun at the annual Wop May Day/Alberta Day celebration in RCMP Centennial Park on August 30.
Step back in time with classic carnival and field games, live entertainment, a themed photobooth, paper airplane contest, and the ever-popular pie-eating contest. Grab a bite from one of the on-site food trucks or try a refreshing lemonade from the stand while soaking in the festive atmosphere.
Come dressed in your aviation or early 1900s garb for a chance to win prizes! While you're there, don’t forget to purchase a ticket for our Chair-ity Raffle, featuring beautifully hand-painted Adirondack chairs by local artists.

Get ready for a weekend of mud, metal, and mayhem at the Edson Hillbilly Demolition Derby & Mud Bogs!
Taking place on August 30-31, this event features mud bogger races, a classic demolition derby, and action-packed Tough Truck runs where cars and trucks launch into the air and power through rugged terrain.
Cheer on your favourite drivers as they battle it out in the mud pit, smash through the derby arena, and go head-to-head for glory.
The fun doesn’t stop there—food vendors will be on site to keep you fuelled, and bouncy houses will keep the kids entertained between events.
